Now that school is fully in session it’s time to get serious about learning. Connor just started the 3rd grade and in the state of Texas we have something called the STAAR test. I know Connor is pretty nervous about the test this year, so as a Mom I want to help him be prepared the best I can.
About a month ago we started an online tutoring program called Revolution Math. It’s designed to help 2nd-5th graders with their math skills. The story-based curriculum is a lot of fun and I loved seeing Connor interact with his teacher and the other kids. At first I wasn’t sure how Connor would like the program, but I was pleasantly surprised when he started to look forward to his Sunday night math session. You can see here he’s online with his teacher and another student. You just need a web camera or a tablet. We used his Kindle tablet and it worked great!
Whoever logs in first gets to choose their character…so it was always a race to login to get started! Each session lasts around an hour and tells a story…so it encourages your child to engage in the story line.
Each week the parent will get an email about their child’s progress from their tutor. I loved this because it let me know how well Connor was doing in areas and also what his weaknesses were.
Week 3… A few weeks in we got to know each other pretty well and the story line for his math tutoring started to evolve more and more.
Nothing makes me happier than when I see my kiddo excited about something. Especially when that something is LEARNING! 
We are loving Revolution Math so much we are going to keep on doing it for awhile. As long as Connor enjoys it and keeps learning and asking questions then that’s awesome in my Mompinion!
