Germany Part 3: Heidelberg, Philippsburg, & Frankfurt

Well, because I have been living under a ROCK apparently I completely forgot to post about the last leg of our Germany trip.  I want to jot all this down before I forget.

I’m also around 24 weeks pregnant right now and doing well!  I’ll update more on that soon.  Baby girl does have a name we will share if you haven’t seen already.

Here we go….After leaving Fussen we headed to Heidelberg first and it’s a cute little town with a ton of tourist shopping.  I remember my Mom saying this is where she and her friend Dwan would go shop sometimes when we lived there.

Delicious pastries

I regret not getting a kuckoo clock, but now with a newborn on the way I think that was probably a good idea!

Also aren’t these aprons EVERYTHING! Lol! Starbucks in Heidelberg, Germany

The beautiful Neckar river running through Heidelberg. The Lindt chocolate store.  It was quite a bit different than the ones in the US.  They had sparkly truffles with glitter on them and a lot of them were made with alcohol.

Kinder Surprise Eggs are my love language 🙂

After Heidelberg we headed to Philippsburg.  That’s the town where my parents used to live and it was very interesting to see the village.  It was quite remote and off the grid.  I can’t imagine trying to find things back in the 80’s without a cell phone in hand.  “Ausfahrt” is the German word for Exit.

The drummer statue my Mom used to stroll me and Bonnie around as babies.

The apartment where we used to live.

We stopped on our way to Frankfurt at Frankenstein Castle in Mühltal, Germany.  It’s the castle that the author of the book based it on.

Next we headed to Frankfurt for our flight home and enjoyed the big city!  It was also the first hotel room we had with air conditioner….it was HOT!

We found the only Chipotle in Germany!  You can take the folks outta Texas…but you can’t take the Tex-Mex away from them!

Last desserts Currently craving….Starbucks golden chocolate coins.

Hope you enjoyed the pics and a little peek into Germany!  xo Becky
