Pepperidge Farm: Feeding Families for 75 Years

Crunchy, smiling Goldfish crackers. Elegant and decadent Milano cookies. Golden, flaky Puff Pastry. Classically simple Herb Seasoned Stuffing. Delicately sweet Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread.

Few brands have a larger portfolio than Pepperidge Farm, which is known and loved for its many products touching the lives of families across the globe. It all began with a humble loaf of bread, which Pepperidge Farm founder Margaret Rudkin baked in her rural Connecticut kitchen. Created in 1937 to address her son’s allergy to common preservatives, Margaret’s simple recipe is the origin of a flourishing business celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
Pepperidge Farm’s heritage is rich and very much alive today as the company—founded on a mother’s love for her son—continues Margaret’s mission to deliver the very best products (from wholesome fresh bakery items to must-have snacks), many of which are staples in American homes today.
Here are some fun facts about the company:
  • On August 15, 1937, the first “official” loaf of Pepperidge Farm all natural, whole grain bread was sold in a store for 25 cents.
  • By September 27, 1939, one million loaves of Pepperidge Farm bread had been sold.
  • Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish crackers were originally made and marketed in Switzerland as “Goldfish Tiny Crackers” before being brought to the U.S. by Margaret Rudkin in 1962.
  • The first flavors introduced stateside were Lightly Salted (Original), Cheese, Barbecue, Pizza, and Smoky.
  • The late Julia Child used to love to serve Goldfish crackers as an appetizer before dinner.
  • Pepperidge Farm is committed to accelerating snacking and baking advancements in the future as evidenced by the 34,000-sqare-foot Innovation Center opening this fall at the company’s headquarters in Norwalk, CT
  • Annually, the brand produces about 558 million Milano® cookies—enough to cross the United States more than 7 times—and bakes approximately 206 million loaves of bread
  • Today, Pepperidge Farm employs more than 5,000 people and operates plants in nine towns
  • Each year, Pepperidge Farm uses about 390 million pounds of flour

Pepperidge Farm products are a staple in our home.  It seems like every time we go to the grocery store we come back with at least a few Pepperidge Farm items.  It’s a brand we love and trust.  I recently got to try a few of their new products and let me tell you about them……

I loooooved these Milano Melts.  I’m a chocoholic and these definitely hit the spot for me!
The Salted Pretzel Milano slices were to die for!

We also tried some Jingos!  Can I just say how much I love saying that word?  My favorite were the Fiesta Cheddar.  These would be great if you are throwing a party or a get together.

And we cannot forget about the most important staple to any two year old on planet Earth.
GOLDFISH.
Connor’s favorite thing ever.
He’s crazy for them and we can’t leave home without it.

Thank you Pepperidge Farm for all the yummy quality products you’ve made for us over the past 75 years.  We thank you for feeding our families and keeping our bellies full!

Diggin the Dragon

Connor loves that movies “How to Train Your Dragon”.  I really enjoy that one too because it’s not too cartoon-ish.  A really cool company called Hullabalu sent him this dragon.  He LOVES it!

He gives Cedric kisses

Cedric “Draggory” is so awesome and when you push his neck he blows imaginary fire! Oh my!

Hullabalu has a great selection of stuffed animals! Hulabalu is about to launch their website with a full line of funny and furry animals with stories to share!

He flies!!!
We got our box of clothes from Wittlebee this week too!
I love this box to door service because you get a great selection of clothing from some awesome brands.
Here is what we got this month:
Hey it’s almost Friday so things are looking up!
This little guy has gymnastics today and he loves it.  Now if he’ll only follow the rules on the trampoline we’ll be golden.  I love seeing how much fun he has every time we go 🙂

Naked Eyes

Hi Everyone,
In case you missed my review of the great new Baby Orajel Naturals teething product, you can still read it here (though the giveaway has ended). I also wanted to let you know that if you are one of the lucky women attending the BlogHer conference in NYC on August 3-4, 2012, you can visit the Baby Orajel folks at Booth 1100 to learn more about taking care of your little one’s teeth and gums! They may even have some product samples to share with you so be sure to stop by.
——————————————————————————————————–

My Mom and Nannie came to see us this past weekend from AR as you know.  My Nannie gave me a lil spending money so I finally splurged and got the Naked 2 palette at Sephora.  I’ve been salivating over this eye palette forever, but could never get up the nerve to spend the money on it.

Here it is and I LOVE IT!

The sweet girl at Sephora did my eyes for me that day and they looked great!  I have been trying to re-create the look she did for me ever since then….but I haven’t been able to apply the eyeshadow exactly like she did.  Terence took this picture of me with my eyes all done 🙂

I know it’s a lot of money to spend on eye makeup.  You get 12 shades, and that rounds out to about $4.15 for each shadow…so it’s not too bad!

The palette has every color you would ever need and I must say I’m having a lot of fun doing my eye makeup in the morning.  If you’ve been resisting the urge to splurge on the Naked2 Palette, just start saving up because I think it’s a great investment and hopefully I won’t need eye makeup for a long while now!

Shopping at Cookies Kids!

I posted this picture last week and I’ve had several people ask about Connor’s Snoopy Pajamas.  They were purchased at the cutest store online called CookiesKids.com.  He loves them and he actually picked them out!

He really loves these Snoopy pajamas!
And get this….they were only $9.99!!!
So Adorable!

I found so many great things at CookiesKids.com.  Connor is constantly out growing his clothing because he’s growing like a weed.  Going shopping at the mall with him is such a chore…all he wants to do is hide in the clothing racks!  Ha ha!

I really enjoy shopping online because it’s convenient and saves me time.  I have such a busy schedule and shopping at stores like CookiesKids.com really fits my lifestyle and makes my life easier that’s for sure!  CookiesKids.com is a great place to find Kids Fashion, Kids Style, School Uniforms, Kids Clothes.

I went online looking for some summer and fall clothing.  I love the plaid short selection they have at CookiesKids.com.  Connor also is crazy about Cars the movie too.  I couldn’t believe how great the prices were on CookiesKids.com.  They were amazingly low, even lower than I would find in a department store!

You can see some of the items I liked while shopping on #CookiesKids site.  I saved to my Polyvore board below:

Cookies Kids is celebrating 40 years of business & here is a little history:

In 1972, a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a 1600 square foot store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory and Summer and Fall, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children’s clothing for the next season. When that did well, they bought more clothing. The business was on it’s way.
As the brothers Cookie, Marvin and Sonny, who had come in as a third partner in the business, began to open new stores in new locations, inventory expanded. Besides the latest fashions, our customers wanted shoes, toys, backpacks and accessories and we were prepared to deliver.
By the late 1990’s there were six superstores throughout the NYC area, and though they previously had different names, by that time they were all named Cookie’s Kids. Also in the late ’90s came an important addition to Cookie’s Kids’ inventory: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie’s Kids Inventory.

Peter Pan (Dallas Summer Musicals}

Last night I headed to Dallas to see the musical Peter Pan.  It was WONDERFUL!!!  It was just as great as I would expect any Broadway play to be.  The acting and music were superb.  Former Olympian Cathy Rigby did a great job as Peter Pan, I’m always weary when a woman is playing….but she did a great job and has such an amazing athletic ability.

PETER PAN is presented by Dallas Summer Musicals July 10-22, 2012 at the Music Hall at Fair Park.

This show is appropriate for all ages.

“Tony Award nominee Cathy Rigby takes flight in an all new production of Peter Pan! Discover the magic all over again of this two time Emmy award winning and two time Tony award nominated production. The New York Times says “Rigby still carries off the flights, fights and acrobatics that make Peter Pan audiences mesmerized.” Peter Pan is filled with timeless magical moments and a captivating hook. The legend you thought you know, is now the adventure you never dreamed possible… Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan!”

I had such a great night with friends and we enjoyed a fabulous play.  If you live in the DFW area I would highly recommend you go check this out!

After all you’re never too old to visit Never Land right???  And…..at the very end there is a special surprise!  You just have to go check it out 😉

Cover Girl Review & $50 Drugstore.com Giveaway!

As women, we all want to feel good about ourselves, but sometimes we are also our own worst critics.  When I have a new outfit to wear, get my hair done, wear new makeup, or a pretty piece of jewelry, I automatically have this sense of “wow I think I look pretty darn good today!”  I don’t know why these things make me feel better, but they do.  I think it’s something men probably will never understand, but I also know my husband notices when I make an extra effort to look my best!

Terence & I just celebrated 10 years of marriage a couple months ago.  I know I don’t look the way I did when we first got married, but I still want my husband to think I’m beautiful.  I remember getting ready the morning of our anniversary date.  We were going to have the whole day together — kid free.  It was going to be just the two of us & I wanted him to look at me that day and think about what a beautiful bride he married.

He does notice the little things, like when I take extra time on myself.  Sometimes he comments when I fix my hair a certain way or wear a new outfit.  But, he always notices when I take the time to focus on my makeup.  And that in return makes me feel good inside.  Even though I am not that 20 year old wrinkle free gal anymore, I still feel confident and beautiful when I take time and try to look my best!

I recently had the opportunity to try the new COVERGIRL LashPerfection™ Mascara.  I love makeup as you all know!  I was so excited to try this product!  My husband’s favorite feature about me is my eyes.  So, I always like to play them up… particularly on special occasions.

*Micro-chambers create the appearance of instantly full lashes with up to 3x more volume
*Provides beautiful clump-free application in one step, which goes on smoothly & feels natural
*The bristles lift lashes for a precise, controlled application that won’t smudge or smear
*The polished, volumized look lasts all day without messy flaking
The lightweight, conditioning formula coats lashes from root to tip leaving them feeling soft and lifted.  The innovative brush structure contains tiny micro-chambers that instantly wrap your lashes 360 degrees, allowing more lash coverage.
Available in:
Very Black, Black, Black/Brown, & Brown
SRP**$5.99
As you can see, COVERGIRL LashPerfection worked wonderfully!  It lengthened, volumized, and went on silky smooth without clumping.  This mascara will definitely become a part of my morning routine, and at $5.99 it won’t break my budget either!

As the years go by, I not only want to look and feel better, but I want others to see that, too.  As women, we always want to put our best foot forward and have that inner confidence.  You don’t need makeup to have inner confidence… but, it might just give you that extra sparkle.  And when you have that confidence inside, others will notice, too.  Whether it’s a new outfit, hairdo, or glammed up makeup, the most important thing is that you feel good about yourself and live each moment to the fullest!

Rollerskating Momma

We took Connor to the park tonight and I tried out my brand new pair of Heelys.  They are tennis shoes with wheels in the heels and you can roller skate in them!  They were a lot of fun 🙂

Hopefully I don’t look like a super dork! LOL!
These shoes are not just fun, they are a great way to exercise too!
Momma’s everywhere will be rollerskating their babies down the street!

If you decide you just want to wear the shoe it’s SO easy to make the switch.  Just pull the cap off the bottom, remove the wheel, and replace.  There are so many different styles on Heelys website HERE.

Kids will love them….but so will their Momma 🙂
You can find lots more info on Heelys HERE
and on Facebook HERE
Disclosure: Thank you Business to Blogger for my new Heelys!
