Shoot Your Kids Workshop

Ya’ll know I’m a crazy picture taking Mama right?
I mean I have soooooo many photos of Connor boy that I am going to need another hard drive soon.
Gulp.
These are some shots I took last week.
Connor loves to lay in our bed and watch movies…and because he’s still most of the time I can catch a decent photo.

I’d like to think I know a lot about my camera and taking photos.  For the most part I do.  I know how to get a photo to look the way I want.  I still have a lot to learn and I do like to continue learning to photog skills.
Enter the Shoot Your Kids Workshop:

“The Shoot Your Kids Workshop is seriously the best beginner’s workshop. Ever.  Presented by Benfield Photography, this three hour workshop will teach you to take better images of your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or best friend’s kids.

Though Dale has been a professional photographer for over a decade (check out their blog here) he was seriously stumped when his daughter Ellie first came on the scene seven years ago. Unlike soon-to-be brides at their engagement shoot, this precious newborn could hardly stay awake for five minutes after she ate let alone pose- how was he supposed to work with that?!?!

Gradually he learned that by combining his background in photojournalism, his life long love of photography, and his adoration of his daughter (and her unique personality) he was able to capture beautiful images of their everyday life and now he wants to pass these skills along to you!

Whether you have a point and shoot with no fancy settings or a DSLR that hasn’t come out of the box since Christmas, this workshop can help. Whatever equipment you currently have, Dale (and his awesome wife Meredith) will teach you how to use it to take better images of your kids. Lighting, composition, Photoshop tricks- they cover all of these too in everyday language that anyone could understand. These skills will give you images for scrapbooks, blog posts, and Facebook updates that you will be proud of!!

They are going to ten different cities in the month of August and will be here in Dallas on Saturday August 11th during the early afternoon. (Check back here for more details on the “what time and where” in a few weeks!)

The best part? They have offered me and my lovely readers $50 off the cost of the workshop by using the code JAVAMAMA50 by July 11th! Isn’t that awesome??

To take advantage of this offer hurry over to the Shoot Your Kids website and then click the “Sign Up!” button on the right side of almost any page. See you there!”

More than just Blog Friends

We had a great weekend.  And let me just say it’s already blubbering hot here in Texas I can hardly stand it!
Terence and I have been dealing with sinus issues as well.  My ears are still clogged and I’m ready to hear again.  I think I’ve had people repeat themselves a thousand times already today!

On Saturday we met up with Megan, Brent, & the twinsies, Helen from Kappa Prep, Brittany from Mrs. Preppy, and Kathryn from 2 Little Lovelies.

All these gals are just so nice. I mean you know them online and then you meet in person and they are just as nice and sweet as you imagined. I feel truly blessed to have met so many great friends through blogging.

I’ve been dying to see the twins (Knox & Sloane) for ages now! I was so excited! Let me just say these babies are just BEAUTIFUL and have the sweetest personalities too! I got to snuggle with them and they are so precious! Things have definitely changed since the last time we met up.

My heart is so full seeing Brent and Megan with these sweet babies. It’s amazing how God works and blesses us in ways we can’t begin to imagine. We will all always remember Cohen….and he’ll always be a part of their lives. He would be around Connor’s age now. We’ll see him again someday in Heaven 🙂

We had a great time and it was so nice to see and meet some of you for the first time!
Until next time….

Show Us Your Crib: Kitchens

I’m linking up again with Kelly’s Korner “Show Us Your Life” series.
Today is KITCHEN day!
Below is our kitchen ENJOY 🙂

We have really dark cabinets.  I have to say I like them a lot because they don’t show anything!

Dining table
That red chair from Inglesina has been the BEST thing ever!

We’ve never owned a high chair and Connor’s been able to use this since he was a baby and sit at the table with us.  I imagine we can still get another year out of it.

Terence photo bombed this one…
Our beloved Nespresso machine
When we don’t go to Starbucks this is a life saver!

I love photos, so of course you know I have them displayed everywhere!
Small writing desk aka for the wine
Hanging lamp (Pottery Barn)
Magnetic alphabet letters

Coffee art from Pinterest
Love sign from Michaels
The mixer I begged & begged for Christmas one year and never use. Gulp.  I must change this!

And there ya have it folks!  My kitchen.
Now I just need to cook in it more…..

All Boy

I would give my right arm to go to the I Heart Faces conference!
Especially since it’s so close to where I live 🙂
This week’s theme is “All Boy” so I chose some of my favorites of Connor….
ABOVE is my entry, but I also wanted to show some other very “boy” photos too!
