I’m clinging onto every last second I have with this little man. I am going back to work on Friday and I’m just dreading it! I’m trying to get things ready and put his name on his bottles and things like that. He’s been so good this week and hardly cried or thrown any fits at all! I can’t believe it! He’s my precious angel boy and I thank God every day for him…my heart is just so full of love for this little human being it hurts. My life and my time is not my own anymore…he definitely rules the roost right now! Maybe eventually I’ll get more time to do the things I used to, but right now he is definitely in charge! LOL! It is getting better though….
I wanted to ask a question: What kind of bottles do you use?
I’ve been using the Dr. Browns bottles because they don’t come out as fast, but they have been leaking a lot lately. I’ve also tried the Avent bottles as well, but the milk comes out too fast…I’m having no luck here, so suggestions welcome!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
He looks like such a big boy!!! Love that outfit. We also use Dr Brown’s bottles for Cannon and I just recently noticed 1 or 2 of them leaking but not all the time. I’m not sure what’s going on – we also used these for my daughter and I don’t remember them leaking? We pretty much tried every bottle out there for her and liked DB the best so that’s why I just used them for Cannon. I’m hoping its just user error b/c once I take it apart & put it back together, they seem to be ok?
I know how you feel about returning to work – I was still working after my daughter was born and it was the hardest thing I had to do. She did great (and I learned to like it too). She is the most socialble little girl now and loves to play with other kids. You’ll both do fine 🙂
Kristen
I have tried the Breastflow bottle by The First Years. She did very well with that, but we’ve only bottle fed three times so far, so we’ll see if it continues to work for her.
Good luck going back to work! I’m already dreading that day, and I don’t have to return until the end of July!
I use the Playtex Ventaire Crystal Clear bottles. I like them because they have a lot of pieces (so you know they’re being cleaned well) but it’s not complicated to put them all back together.
If you want to look at trying these, make SURE you get the Crystal Clear version (has a clear nipple ring and clear base). The other version, regular Ventaire (pastel color on the nipple ring and base) will leak and the ounce markings on the side will rub off with time. I haven’t had to replace any of my bottles for this reason.
In the nine months I’ve been using the Crystal Clear Ventaire, I can only remember one leak, and most likely it was due to user error, or the fact that the parts weren’t completely dry when I put the bottle back together.
The nipples come in two flows: slow and fast. I believe the 6 oz bottles come with the slow nipple, and the 9 oz bottles come with the fast. But you can buy additional, no problem.
I don’t know what type of nipple you’re using now, cause I’m not familiar with the Dr. Brown’s bottles, but the Crystal Clear Ventaire only comes in a standard size nipple. This may not be as wide as the one you’re currently using, so it may take Connor a little bit to get used to it.
Anyways, good luck with finding a good bottle for him, whatever you choose!!
Haha, that shirt is adorable!! He is getting so big already!! 🙂
I used the Playtex Drop Ins and loved them. My daughter was on bottles until she was one ans we never went past a slow flow nipple. She just couldn’t handle anything faster.
I used Dr. Brown’s but hated them because they were so horrible to clean! I’ve heard the Playtex bottles are good though. Let us know what you find that works!
I can’t believe you have to leave that precious face….he’s getting big and cuter by the day
SUPER COOL AND CUTE!! I used Dr.Browns on Landon’s bottles and never had a problem with them. There should be a line at the top saying not to fill over this line. If you fill over it the bottle will leak. The nipples on Dr.Browns come in several different levels. If i remember correctly its numbers 1-4. the number is on the bottom of the nipple. the package of just nipples say the correct level for the age of the child. the higher the number the more flow and older the baby should be. you may need to go up in nipple size. we really like dr.browns and never had an issue with them. just LOTS of parts. hope this helps. Good luck on your 1st day back at work. its going to be hard.
How much maternity leave did you have? So bummed you have to go back to work this week, but just think of all the awesome pictures you’ll get to show off to your co-workers of your sweet little man! 🙂
Becky, I’ve been following your blog for about 3 months now. Your Connor is precious!!
I have a new baby girl, and we started out using the Dr. Brown’s bottles. We were having tile laid in our house and my dishwasher was going to be out of commission for a day or so (which I thought was tragic), so I tried the Playtex drop-ins – LOVE them!! Now I only use the Dr. Brown’s for mixing formula to pour in the Drop-ins!
