Next up on our Germany leg of the trip was driving from Munich to Füssen. I have to say this was my absolute FAVORITE part of Germany. Everything looked like it was straight out of a storybook. Füssen is also where the famous Neuschwanstein Castle is located, built by King Ludwig II.
Here are some photos of our trip from Munich to Füssen.
Of course the chocolate and food was soooooo incredibly good!
The thing about Europe is you have to specify if you want “sparkling” water or “still” water. My favorite was when one of our waiters asked “Would you like your water with or without gas?”
STILL WATER please…and of course ice is not used over there either. This was my favorite drink while visiting…now I crave it and wish I could find it in the states somewhere!
The Bavaria area of Germany was just so so PRETTY!
You can see all the beautiful mountains in the distance…
Castle sighting from the road 🙂
We stayed at the cutest hotel called Hotel Hirsch. It was right in the middle of town so we could walk everywhere. The rooms were spectacular and Connor even had his own little room too!
They offer a generous breakfast buffet- with everything you can imagine, including the squishy meats we don’t see here in America.

Around the town in Füssen
I really wanted to get a cuckoo clock to take home, but decided against it. They were really cool…but over time I think I’d find it annoying lol!
Our first night there also happened to be my 37th birthday. We ate at the most adorable Italian restaurant in town.
Fresh pizzas. All the food is so much more fresh in Europe!
Dessert
Authentic German attire…they don’t actually wear this stuff obviously and it was quite expensive.
Another thing I noticed were these cigarette machines everywhere. I haven’t seen these in YEARS…but I remember seeing them when I was a child in the US.
Our first stop the next day was at Schloss Hohenschwangau. This is the castle that King Ludwig and his family lived in while he was a boy. Both castles were absolutely amazing.
We then headed up the mountain to Neuschwanstein. It was under a lot of construction and this was very much a tourist village. In reality you only get to see a tiny portion of each castle. You can just imagine how the rest of it must be!
Alpine coasters 🙂
Thanks for the wonderful visit Füssen…we had the best of times and memories that will last forever!
Next up…Heidelberg and Philippsburg…
