Heart Flood

IMG_31215159796234

Sometimes it’s good just to sit down and write what is on your heart. Let your heart “flood”. I know a lot of you in real life and online. I’m so thankful for all sorts of friendships. When I moved to Texas almost 7 years ago it was so incredibly hard to start over and make new friends. It sounds cheesy, but the online community of friendships I’ve made have been a HUGE support system.

So, I know sharing my heart isn’t a big deal to you….but this blog is my journal and my outpouring of thoughts and randomness. It is what it is.

Right now I feel at such a crossroads in life. We don’t exactly know where we are moving in the future, but we do know that we don’t want Terence on the road 2 hours every day commuting anymore. Right now I feel like Terence and I are living zombie lives and waking up every day to the same endless routine. I know when he gets home he’s exhausted and so am I. Does anyone else feel that way?

I know there are changes coming and we want to find a permanent place to live before Connor goes to kindergarten. Whether or not we have any more children….well….that’s a HUGE gaping question mark/hole in my heart. I just don’t know.

How do you let go of your emotions and give everything over to God-emotionally, financially, spiritually, and just TRUST in Him? It’s hard to let go of that control and I think that is what T & I struggle with the most. Some days I would love to have another baby, yet others I’m perfectly content with one.

It’s not that we couldn’t do it financially. We can. We’d just have to give up a lot of things. So, am I willing to do that? Yes…but it would mean a big change for us. Terence and I are polar opposites. He’s a HUGE financial planner and I’m more a fly by the seat of your pants kind of gal!

Yes, we’d have to give up vacations, lattes, and little extra expenditures. It just depends. It’s hard to read blogs and NOT compare yourselves to others. That’s something I struggle with and try not to do. Everyone’s life has a different path. When I see people younger than me building their McMansions or buying expensive wardrobes and posting outfits every single day that I couldn’t afford over a 6 month span….I’m like “Whaaaaa????” How in the heck? Yeah I wonder. Are these people in a ginormous amount of credit card debt or did they win the lotto?

That’s the point when I just have to remove myself and focus on myself and my family. The worst thing you can do is envy others. What happened to being cheerleaders and being happy for someone else’s success? Honestly, you probably don’t know their whole story either and we shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

I’m proud my husband and I have worked so hard and are (for the most part) debt free besides our home. We carry no debt or student loan debt, but we’ve literally worked our asses off to get here.

So at what point in time to you feel comfortable??? When we got married almost 13 years ago we would always talk about “When we got to this point in life we’ll be able to do this and that!” Well, we are HERE. Beyond that point we dreamed of. So when do you start to feel content and secure? That is a peace that I don’t feel and I need to let go and let God fill that void.

So many decisions in this walk of life. Nobody said it would be easy. But let’s support each other and be cheerleaders for others & their successes. Life is not easy and so many people have it worse than you or I do. Yeah…some days just suck. But, beyond all that there is so much to be thankful for.

Right now I am asking if you have a moment and you think of us maybe you could say a little prayer for our future and that God would guide us in the right direction.

4th of July 2014

I hope you all had a great 4th of July!  It’s getting SOOOO hot here in Texas and this chick just isn’t too keen on the hot weather and pit stains.  Like, I could totally live up north and be content year around.

Ter-Bear came to see me at work Friday 🙂

I made a red, white, and blue cake.  I hate to cook…but LOVE to bake!  The cake was ginormous and I ended up throwing half of it out because it was sitting in the fridge all weekend.

The cake:

I ordered Connor a Batman costume because he’s been begging for one. I think this set was like $8 bucks on Amazon.

Connor also had a little 4th of July parade at school and it was so cute!

On Friday our sweet friends Bree & Nate invited us to their house in the country to shoot fireworks.  That was so much fun!  I think the boys had the best time!

My kid is the one with the perma-hands-over-ears in every picture.  Super weenie.

So blessed to have another year to celebrate!  Happy birthday America 🙂

Land of the free…Home of the brave.

Oh, and Connor got ALL his hair chopped off!  I may be in a bit of shock right now, but it’s great for summer.  I’m missing his little mop head though. Ha ha!  But…it’s hair and it will grow back!  It’s so funny because he keeps running to the mirrors in the house and looking at himself and rubbing his head like “who is this???”.  Silly kid.

Twinkie Tuesday ~ The Rose Wedding

Prelude: I know a lot of you used to read my twin sister Bonnie’s blog years ago.  She’s not quite ready to start a blog herself, so we are going to start doing “Twinkie Tuesdays” so she can update all our friends on her life.  She’s actually the one that got ME blogging!  I hope you enjoy the update and feel free to leave a comment and tell her HELLO! 🙂

Wowzers…it’s been a LONG time since I’ve Blogged! I miss it, & then sometimes I feel like I already have so much on my plate, that I can’t muster up the energy to start again. BUT, a lot of exciting things have happened in the past few years!

Let’s try to sum everything up the best I can… I moved back to Arkansas from Las Vegas, Nevada in November of 2012 to be closer to family. Going through a divorce after 7 years of marriage & moving home with an infant was so hard looking back, but God sure has blessed me since. I haven’t heard from Jarrett’s father (& that has been extremely hard, but I know is a blessing in disguise in the long run).

I met an AMAZING man named Vincent, whom I met through a mutual college friend. My friend gave Vincent my phone # & he didn’t text first – NOTHING. Just called! I was at the point in my life where I thought, “I don’t need a maannnnn!!!” But, finally after 2 weeks of talking over the phone & countless times of him saying “We really seem to have a lot in common, we should go out” & I kept turning him down (HA!), we finally went on our first date in July 2012. After that first date, I think the rest is HISTORY!

He is my King & I love him SO SO SO much. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me & Jarrett. He is a WONDERFUL father to Jarrett & we are already in the process of making Vincent, Jarrett’s “Legal” Daddy. J.

Vincent is a HUGE Football fan, so that is definitely something I have had to get used to. Go STEELERS!!! Go HOGS!!! But, I have even decorated our living/dining room in sports theme, so I don’t think I’m doing too bad!!!We just recently got married on June 14, 2014, after almost 2 years of dating. I feel like I had my the “Dream” wedding I have always wanted.

agadg

We had it at Pavilion in the Park in Little Rock, Arkansas. It all went by so quickly, but it was a wonderful, joyous time to spend with our friends & family. Hopefully I can post more pics of the wedding maybe next week?

Summer Weekends

I’m trying to soak up the Texas summer weekends before it gets TOO incredibly hot around here. We didn’t do a whole lot, just laundry and cleaned the house….ya know all the fun weekend chores.
I got a picture as a family, which is a rarety these days!

I also took a few pictures of Connor. Four is turning out to be such a fun age. He’s so curious and full of questions right now. Some of the questions he asks just crack me up! I’ll have to start writing them down.

My good friend Sarah and I went to a place I love to shop called The Brownstone Village in Arlington. My friend Amber introduced me to it years ago and it’s just such a cute place to visit. I equate it to being like and Etsy on land…a bunch of little boutiques with tons of homemade goods. Not everything is homemade, but it’s all SO cute!

This is Sarah and Hyung’s little girl Ellie. She is 9 months and is the cutest little munchkin I ever did see! She is so adorable and I could just love on her rolls all day long….come back and see us soon baby Ellie! (and Sarah + Hyung) ha ha!

I have a quarter to use a pay phone, I call ….

First of all is a pay phone still a quarter to make a phone call?  And I haven’t seen a pay phone in FOREVER!  But….if I was using a pay phone I’d probably be in some sort of emergency.  So I’d be calling Ter-Bear aka by hubby.

I found $25 in my pocket, I buy …

All the coffee and chocolate I could find!!!! Waaaahhaaaaaahhhaa

Macaroni and cheese.  A staple for a 4-year-old.

At the age of 25, I wish I had known …

Well, you learn from your mistakes and not a lot has changed.  But my goal is just to live each day to the fullest because we aren’t promised tomorrow.  To not worry about the little things & focus on what matters.  I didn’t have a kid yet.  I was struggling a LOT with that because I feared I would never have children…I would tell myself to chill out because 3 years from now you’ll have the biggest blessing coming your way and his name is Connor 😉

If I drove 25 miles (direction) from my house, I’d be in …

Dallas?  Plano?  I love those places too!

Movie Weekend

IMG_20140622_162349

(Sorry for the blurry pic…it was dark)

This weekend we took Connor to see How to Train Your Dragon 2.  It was SOOOOOOO cute!  I think I liked it better than the first one 🙂

Studio Movie Grill just beautifully remodeled the theater in Colleyville.  The theaters are spotless and the menu is SO good!  My favorite is the duo dip:  spinach dip, salsa, and queso.  It is enough to share with a couple friends too.

If you are looking for something fun to do with the kids this summer they have lots of fun things going on!

Five on Friday= FAVORITES+Makeup FAVES

Today I’m going to share some favorite makeup STUFF I use. And by stuff I mean the freakish hoarding of makeup I’ve been collecting over the past year.

One recent favorite is this LAQA & Co. lip pen I got in my Birchbox this month.  I never in a million years thought I would like a purple lip color…but I’m absolutely loving this bold punch of color for summer.

makeup (1 of 21) makeup (2 of 21)

I’m often switching up foundations. Right now I really like this product called “The Big Easy” by Benefit.  It goes on smooth like a liquid foundation, but also gives you the finish of a powder.  makeup (5 of 21)

I own at least 4 of these LipSurgence pens from Tarte. They are super hydrating and the color pigment is fab!
makeup (6 of 21)

This Batiste dry shampoo for blondes is great for days when I don’t want to wash my hair….we all have those!
makeup (7 of 21)

I’ve been using this concealer by MakeupForever for forever. It’s the best under-eye coverage I’ve found and I’m sticking with what works!
makeup (8 of 21)

The best makeup brush I’ve bought by far is this tapered eye shadow blending brush from Chanel.  I’ve had it for at least 8 years and it’s still going strong.  It’s perfect for blending shadow in the corners of your eyes.
makeup (9 of 21)

I can’t live without my Teez w Eez. This is the best tool for getting the perfect poof!
makeup (11 of 21)

Loreal “Butterfly Effects” mascara works WONDERS! It works better than some mascaras I’ve spent $30+ for….
makeup (12 of 21)

And last but not least is my favorite poofing powder.  Got2B Powder’ful is amazing!  It holds your hair and lifts it up!  Beware…once it’s in your hair it’s cement.  You have to wash to get it out.  I sprinkle a tiny bit on the back of my hair and that’s it!

makeup (13 of 21)

OMG y’all thanks for letting me share a bit of my makeup routine with you!  I’m no expert but I love to play beauty school like a 7-year-old!  ha ha!

makeup (20 of 21)

My favorite tune for this weekend is Sara Barealles “I Choose You”.  If you haven’t heard this song yet Spotify it RIGHT NOW!
