Diet Day One

So tomorrow starts day ONE of our diet.  We’ve committed as a family to do this diet for a whole 30 days…and after that make it a lifestyle change.  Eventually we’ll be able to add other things back in, but for the first 30 days we are pretty much going gluten free.  No bread, no dairy, no sugar.

No Starbucks.

I’m currently detoxing and it ain’t fun yo.

It will get better, and I know after all of this I’ll feel better.  I’m tired of feeling sluggish and icky.  I’m ready to live my life and feel good!  Inside and out!

We will be following a Paleo diet plan.  We bought Sarah’s book this weekend and then bought all our groceries for the week.  Her book is great because it LAYS IT OUT STRAIGHT for you.  It also includes a shopping list and menu plan for each week.

So we cleaned out our fridge and pantry.  We got rid of all the junk we’ve been eating, except for a few staples for Connor.

We replaced it with fresh greens, protein, and veggies.

And donated all our food instead of trashing it…..

Breakfast is already made for tomorrow morning 🙂

We are excited to start this journey and I look forward to blogging about it over the next month!  Here is to looking and feeling better!!!

Tomorrow….back to the daily grind!
AND
Thank you Liz for commenting and bringing this diet to our attention!!!
We thank you!

Losing Weight Ain’t for Wimps

Terence and I are thinking of doing the Mediterranean diet.  Have any of you all tried it?  We have GOT to lose some weight, we’ve been pretty good at exercising, but as far as eating not so good.  I struggle every day with what to cook and eat.  Most of the time it’s things that are really quick and easy….and not so healthy : /

I don’t want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe.  I’ve got to kick myself into gear because I’m tired of feeling like a lumpy frumpy Momma.

I know I’ll never be my 18 year old self again….

But I don’t want to turn into this either….

SOME METHODS I’M CONSIDERING :

Jillian Michael’s recipe for losing 5 pounds in 7 days

Get 60 ounces of distilled or pure water and…

Add a tablespoon of sugar free cranberry juice and…

Add 1 dandelion root tea bag and…

Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and…

You Drink the 60 ounces every day for 7 days and…

This recipe works because it helps flush out excess water weight you have carrying around in your body and… You could lose more than 5 pounds in 7 days depending on how much excess water weight you’re carrying around.

MEDITERRANEAN GUIDELINES :

A great resource I found for the Mediterranean diet is a site HERE

OTHER KICK STARTERS :

I’ve thought about posting pictures of myself through my weight loss journey on the blog to keep myself accountable…but honestly I’m embarrassed!
TIPS FOR LOOKING THINNER:
* A V neck shirt elongates the neckline
* A jacket hides your but and hips instantly
* Wear shapewear
* Wear a belt
* Skinny jeans don’t make you look SKINNY!  Choose a flare jean.
* Wear heels
So what diet plans have worked for you?  Any comments or suggestions you give I would be so thankful for!  I’m just lacking motivation so much right now.
Now that Connor is a little bit older Terence is adding me to the gym membership and we are going to put Connor in the daycare there while we work out.  Here is to healthier lives & eating!
(I start my new job tomorrow….and longer hours. boo.  I am going to miss all the gals I work with, but I will still be at the same company so I’m happy about that!  Any free time I have after work is going to be working out and spending with family….so less blogging is probably in my future…such is life!  Thanks for hanging in there with me as lots has been going on over the past few months!)
xoxo Becky

Phone Photo Dump – Target

I went to Target on my lunch break today.  In case you haven’t heard the Internet froze over yesterday and Targets website was down.  What was the cause of all this?  Missoni.  Who/What is Missoni???  I didn’t know until my Twitter friends told me….it’s basically a high end fashion designer who makes clothes with a bunch of zig zags on them.  I sort of wish I bought a $25 cardigan only to sell it on Ebay for $100 smackers…that’s a nice return eh?
Well, they didn’t have much Missoni left.  Like as in zero.
But I did find this cute turkey hat in the $1 spot.  SCORE! I think this is going to be the most fashionable statement for fall and I can make Connor pee his pants when I chase him around the house in it yelling “Gobble!!! Gobble!!!” hee hee…..

Saw these in a toy store in Dallas last weekend too….HAWT.

Oh did I say there was no Missoni left at Target today?

Whelp. There is if you wear a size 3 month – 2T in little girls or you like XS nighties.

I did find these Dove chocolates.  They are white and milk chocolate swirls.  YUMMY!

We also went to Buy Buy Baby this past weekend and tried out potties for Connor.  He is still a bit young, but he has taken an interest every time we use the bathroom so we decided to let him check some out.  He knows exactly what to do so I think we’ll start slowly training him.

We just can’t decide on which potty to get him?  Any suggestions?

The Fisher Price Cheer for Me! potty was pretty cute.  It has a place for toilet paper, a flush, and it cheers for you when you tee tee because it has a sensor in it.

That is it for now 🙂
Happy HUMP day!

Did Someone Say Sprinkles?

We had a pretty low key weekend.  We just relaxed and chilled around the house.  I have so many things I feel like I need to get done and I just can’t keep up with everything! Ugh!  Right now I have been tagging a bunch of items for the JBF sale next week.  I’ve never participated before and I am excited to get rid of some stuff.
I had the pleasure of meeting up with Leah.  She’s one of the gals I met through blogging and twitter & saw in Dallas a few months ago.  She’s just as precious as can be and so is her hubby!  I’m so excited for them, they are expecting baby #2 🙂 So glad Trey is doing better and we’ll continue to pray for healing!

Congrats ya’ll and it was so good to see you & come back SOOOOOOOOOON!!!

On the weekends Terence will go and get Connor and he will lay in bed with us while we try to sleep in a little bit…..it’s the sweetest thing ever.

I also got some Sprinkles on the way home in Dallas  🙂
If you follow them on Twitter they give away free cupcakes every day.
Yesterday it was chocolate vanilla hazelnut…..YUMMMMMM…….

And we took Connor to the park to play.  This is a part of our weekend nightly routine now.
He is so big and can do most things on the playground by himself now!
My baby is growing up so fast…..cherishing every second!
Hope you all had a great weekend as well!
xoxo Becky
Oh and I almost forgot!
The winner of the Smashbox Makeup is :

In Remembrance Linkup

Everyone has their own story to tell about September 11, 2001.  I am sure everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing….it is a day we all will never forget.  I can’t believe it has been 10 years.  The time has gone so quickly, but for some I’m sure it’s gone by slowly and sadly.

I can’t imagine.

I’ve talked about our 9-11 experience on this blog before.  I know that day changed our lives forever, I think it changed everyone’s life in some way or another.
We are so blessed to live in this country.  Even though our country has had a rough time lately, we should still be grateful for our freedom, those who fight for it, and those who’ve lost their lives.  That day forever changed the course of history.  Nothing will be the same, but God has a plan and in that I trust.
Thank you Lord for this life I live, for the ones I love, and for the ones I’ve lost.  This world is not the end, it’s only the beginning of eternity………
Thought I would share some pictures we took in March while visiting Summer & Adam in NYC.  They are very touching and may help you reflect on the memory of 9-11….

Also wanted you to see Iraq.  This is where our soldiers are fighting…pray for them.

May we never forget.
