Vacationing with a Two Year Old

We had so much fun at Shrek Fest this past weekend, but let me tell you vacationing with a two year old is crazy town!  Anytime you are away from home and in a new place your child is going to get excited and over stimulated.  That’s just the way it is. 
I would suggest bringing lots of snacks.  Hotels are expensive and I’m not buying Connor a $4 beverage everywhere we go.  Also, I know this sounds silly, but a child “leash” is good as well.  Connor tends to run off.  It scares me because there people everywhere!  It makes me feel better knowing I can hang onto him. 
If we are going to be in the car for a significant amount of time we bring the DVD player.  That thing is a life saver!  Lots of books and toys are always on hand as well.  We keep a stash of extra diapers and wipes in our car for emergencies.  Don’t forget your child’s favorite lovey or blanket, because they’ll be away from home these items can be comforting to them.
We had such a great trip and I loved seeing the excitement in Connor’s eyes.   It made it all worthwhile.  While some things didn’t go how I had expected, we had a blast!  I am a major planner and our dinner lasted longer than expected so we missed the meet and greet with Shrek.  While you can’t prepare for everything you can try and make life a little easier.  I know we aren’t going to be eating our best while on vacation.  We brought along some Culturelle Kids! Packets.   They help reduce digestive upset, support natural defenses, and provide a solution for digestive discomfort and poor health. 

I take probiotics and I was excited to learn that Culturelle Kids! Had one for Connor too!  Probiotics are a great thing to take daily.  Probiotics are good for you microorganisms. They help your body with certain functions especially in the digestive area.  I mix one packet with Connor’s drink and he doesn’t even know it’s in there!  I know I’m giving him something beneficial to his health and that makes me happy.

Potty Training: HELP!

Yes, that is yours truly in the potty training chair.  I don’t know where this was taken but obviously somebody wasn’t too happy about it!  Judging from the shag carpet and the rock wall behind me it was a looooooong time ago and now I feel old. 

So the time has come and we’ve been talking about the issue of “potty training”.  Honestly I think this scares me more than Connor.  First time parent nerves I guess.  He has used the potty several times.  It’s just not consistent. 

Do ya’ll have any potty training tips or advice you would like to give this Mama that helped you out?

I know everyone says it will happen when they are ready, but he seems genuinely interesting in using the potty right now so we thought why not?  He also spends all day with his cousin Ellie who is already potty trained.  He sees her using the potty and knows she doesn’t wear diapers, so he’s already exposed to “this is what you do when you use the potty” type things.

I would never push him….that is not my goal here.  I’m just saying if he’s taken interest then why not try?  And lets face it…..not buying diapers anymore would be awesome too 🙂

Insta-Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was our anniversary, but we had family in town and other things going on so we are going to celebrate next weekend with a date night 🙂

Friday night after work we went to eat at Chick-fil-a at the mall until the gymnastics place opened for play night.  Connor was going crazy in the gymnastics place and when it was time to go he threw a tantrum….we may not be going back for awhile after that show out! He even tore my necklace off my neck while I was trying to carry him out! UGH!  He went all limp noodle one me….. He embarrassed the poo out of me and wasn’t following the rules on the trampoline so we’ll just wait until we have classes 😉

We had Aunt Suzan & Uncle Royce stay with us this weekend.  Connor loved having them visit!

Fit Throwing Biz

I stayed home with Connor yesterday because he hasn’t been feeling well.  He was pretty good most of the day but we had an issue when I tried to wash THE BLANKET.  I mean he had it out!  I thought I was going to start crying….of course every time I offered up another blanket he would just get more furious.  I told him I was going to take his picture and he stopped right after…..I guess he knew he better stop or I may show these to future girlfriends 😉 Ha ha!

I’m ready to go back to work today….aka….”vacation”.
Just KIDDING!  I wouldn’t trade any day with him….fit throwing and all!  I love you so much boo boo and hope you have a good day today with your nice clean blanket.

We also got to visit with my lovely friend Amber.  I LOVE HER.  She is such a beautiful person inside and out.  I’m so glad God brought her into my life….and she found me through this here blog!  She’s doing so good raising her two boys since Brett died earlier this year.  She’s much stronger than I would be….I just admire her in so many ways. 

I told her I was going to talk with my British accent until the Olympics were over.  I tried it for awhile but I don’t think she was too fond of it!  LOL!

Ya know because it’s August and all….only 110 degrees outside!
Connor was not scared when we scooted down this isle…he just laughed!

Father’s Day 2012

We had a fab Father’s Day weekend!
We are so blessed to have Terence.  He’s the best Dad and Hubby ever.  God has truly blessed us with him and he takes such good care of us.  I know I don’t tell him enough how thankful I am for him and how much I love him.  But honey….I love you and you and Connor are my heart.

We had a nice lunch over at T’s parent’s house with family and all the kids got to play together.  It’s SOOOOOO hot in Texas right now.  Although, it is a lot cooler than last summer…..so far!

We are so thankful for our Dads, Grandpas, Uncles, and brothers…all the father figures in our lives.

My precious Daddy.  He is such a teddy bear.  He has the kindest heart of anyone you’ll meet.  He’s giving, and always puts others before himself.  He loves my Mom with all his heart after all these years I can still see how much he loves her and tries to please her.  My Daddy is always sending me little cards in the mail to remind me how much he loves me and how proud he is of me.  He’s my cheerleader and is not just my Dad, but my friend and I feel like I can talk to him about anything.  My Dad always holds a special place in my heart.  I LOVE YOU SWEET DADDY!

I loved the fun Ziploc baggy.  Not sure what I’ll use that for?  Also-not sure what I’ll used the blender cleanser for since I’ve already used my Blender and I’m not paying $25 for a new one.  It does say you can use it to clean regular makeup brushes though??? 
I tried the self tanning towel.  Overall I got great coverage, still some streaks but it was easy to apply.


The Staniac sort of reminds me of Benefit Benetint….and I actually like that one better.
Overall this month’s box was GOOD!  I love getting my little surprise in the mail every month!

Mayfest Fun!

Here in Fort Worth they have a weekend festival the first weekend of May called “Mayfest”.

It sort of reminds me of Toad Suck Daze back home in Conway 🙂

We had a great family day out yesterday…of course I was sweating like a PIG!  It’s already so hot here in Texas….I need to work out and get a hot bod so I can wear some shorts and not be ashamed of my white legs 😛  Of course there were lots of people there wearing crap they shouldn’t have been wearing so that made me feel better, but seriously.  This may be a sundress summer because I don’t like shorts????

I am going on a juice fast starting today so we’ll see how it goes.  I say a fast…but really I think I’m going to have a juice for dinner every night and eat a light lunch mid day.  I’m just not happy with my muffin rolls and I want to feel better about myself.  Especially now that summer is here.

Excuse my hot and tired looking self… we had worked the early morning Sunday school class at 8:30.  We had EIGHT two year olds!  God bless all you Mom’s with multiples…I just don’t know if I could do it!  I was beat!  Then we stopped for a Starbucks and Connor dumped it all over the back seat of my car and onto the carpet….sigh…just another day!  Pick and choose your battles.  He’s becoming and very opinionated and defiant two year old some days…but other times he just melts my heart and is so loving.

We had a great weekend.  I spent most of my free time devouring the ever popular “50 Shades of Grey” series everyone is talking about….and let me just say it did not disappoint!  But now I am left hanging and I must read the 2nd one asap! This book as pulled me in hook, line, and sinker. 

I love a good romance …..and this is WAY more than a romance let me say…blushing red romance.  I wish Terence would read it.  I think most women wish their men would read it.  My husband is not a reader, but dang…I wish he would, it might inspire some spice in our 11 year marriage….you know what I’m saying??? ha ha!!!  I really loved KLaw’s review.  She’s the funniest writer and as blunt as I’ll get out…but she doesn’t hold back and that is why I love her blog 🙂
