Show Us Your Life: Dining Rooms

So here it is….our palatial dining room…..
Ha ha!  Nope.  This is a dining room we saw while in England.  OMG.  Terence and I were laughing because we don’t even think we know that many people to invite to dinner!

This is where we normall eat.  It’s the area off of our kitchen.  We do have a dining area, which is now taken up by Terence’s home office.  I would eventually like to get a dining set.  Actually, our wedding china from 11 years ago is still packed in the original boxes….yikes!

I would like a formal dining area someday and be able to unpack all that beautiful china.

The area across from the living area is what we call our “dining” room now….but it currently is our home office.

BUT- Maybe it can turn back into a dining room soon because Terence won’t be working from home anymore!!! Terence has accepted a new job! It’s a great opportunity for him and although he won’t be at home….it will be so good for his career. I also think it will be good for him to be out of the house and with peers. He’ll learn a lot and be able to advance. I think all this schooling may just be starting to pay off….Thank you Lord! I’m so excited for him and this new adventure. I know it’s going to mean some changes, but all in all I feel like this is a door the Lord has opened and we’ll see what happens!

We have had our eye on the Benchwright table from Pottery Barn for a few years now.  Maybe one day we’ll be able to purchase it.

And just because: This is some of the best eat’n you ever have!  This is how we do it in Arkansas on the farm 🙂  Fried tater, cornbread, ham, garden corn, baked beans, all the fixins…..Ahhhh I miss the farm!

There is Nannie in the background probably frying something up!

We hope you all have a relaxing weekend and chocolate popsicle wishes!!!!

Show Us Your Crib: Kitchens

I’m linking up again with Kelly’s Korner “Show Us Your Life” series.
Today is KITCHEN day!
Below is our kitchen ENJOY 🙂

We have really dark cabinets.  I have to say I like them a lot because they don’t show anything!

Dining table
That red chair from Inglesina has been the BEST thing ever!

We’ve never owned a high chair and Connor’s been able to use this since he was a baby and sit at the table with us.  I imagine we can still get another year out of it.

Terence photo bombed this one…

Our Living Room

I’m linking up today with Kelly’s Korner show us your life series.  Today is living room day!  Yay!  I love to look around other people’s houses and see how they decorate.  Now that we have Pinterest I am constantly getting inspired…but inspiration is about as far as it gets these days!

I  am not the best decorator, and I don’t like a lot of clutter.  I guess I would call our style traditional.  Some of my favorite places are Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and Hobby Lobby.

As you look through the photos if you think of some ways we can decorate please comment that would be awesome because we can use all the help I can get!

We planned on being in this house for at least 5 years.  When you buy your first home it’s an amazing feeling, you discover the things you love, and the things you don’t.  In our next house I know we want a separate office area.  Not everything has to be perfect and you can fix what you don’t like.  But the one thing I do know is I want a separate room for all our computer junk because it’s a crazy mess right now!

So without further ado here is our lounge area :

Sofa & Chair: Dillards
Rocker: Babies R Us
Photo Wall: Michaels
Curtains & Rods: Restoration Hardware
 Picture above fireplace: Aaron Brothers
Vases on fireplace: TJ Maxx
Flowers: Pottery Barn
Speakers: Bowers & Wilkins

Can’t wait to visit all your living rooms as well!
Happy Friday!

Baby Shower for Julie

This weekend I threw a baby shower for my good friend and co-worker Julie.  It thrilled my heart to be able to do this for her!  I’m so excited for baby Allie to be here!  Ever since I moved to Fort Worth almost 5 years ago Julie and I have worked together.  She has always been so good to me and I’m so blessed to have her as a friend!

It was the first shower I’ve ever thrown solo.  So I was nervous that everything would turn out okay….but I was also super excited for some PINK 🙂  Yay!

So here are Julie’s shower pictures….

Art from Paris

We picked up the three watercolor paintings while we were in Paris.  Our extra bedroom was a little bare on the walls.  We got them framed & I am really excited how they turned out 🙂

And best of all it’s all places we visited and it’s a great memory!

Finishing Touches

We are still working on Connor’s big boy room.  Slowly transitioning everything.  We also decided to take his twin bet out of the room for right now so he’d have more room to play with his cars.

One recent change we made was replacing his bookshelf for a bigger one.  The black one is in his closet now for extra storage :

– Lamp is a cheapo lamp from Super Target and it works great!
–  The toy planes are a cute touch (thank you cousin Lesley)

But usually they end up here…..

I also picked up this cute airplane book end from TJ Maxx.  It has a small nick on the corner so I got 10% off!  Always ask for a discount even if it’s only a minor defect.

Dillards had a huge sale this past weekend.  I got this map pillow that sort of goes with the theme.  It was only $9.  I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it in there or not yet???

I love my sweet boy!
He really is the most loving soul.
I can’t believe in less than 2 months he will be TWO YEARS OLD!
Where has time gone….more on that subject tomorrow 😉

Welcome to my crib
