Christmas Tree 2012

Yay!

The Christmas tree is up and I think our little elf loves it!

I was nervous about using the decorating mesh..but it was super easy to work with.

I’m glad we changed the tree up this year and went with more traditional colors of red and green.

He’s wearing his penguin hat….silly boy!
He also asks to build a fire every night.
He loves helping his Daddy build fires.
I got this little jar for $1.59 at World Market and I love it!
I had all these “extra” sprinkles laying around the house and I just dumped them all in and it saves storage room in my pantry.

I also found this Peppermint Piggy Dust.  I’m just dying to use it on a cup of hot cocoa or sprinkle it on cupcakes.

Another Christmas-y item I’m excited to use are these felt ribbons.  Aren’t they so cute?  I just love the rounded edges 🙂

What are you excited for this Christmas season?

Little Mr Shower

Yesterday I hosted a shower for my sister in law Rebecca.  She’s expecting a little boy named Levi soon!  She does so much for us and Connor every day it was nice to do something for her.

I’m not the best at throwing showers, but I love the Little Mr. theme….so that’s what I tried to do.

I hope everyone had a good time visiting and celebrating the upcoming arrival of Little Mr. Levi 🙂

I found most of the printables on Pinterest for free!

Pizza Dip
My Mother in law and baby Elliana

These two are so precious!
If you are looking for a great midwife in the DFW area…you need Melody!

Can’t wait to meet you baby Levi & (baby Leah) too!  We have a niece coming this winter as well!

Crafting: What Do You Need?

Everyone has one…or maybe not everyone…but you know what I mean.  A closet where you stash stuff.  Stuff that you know you’ll use someday.  I mean you have to use it someday right?  I love throwing get togethers and parties.  I’m always on the lookout for a good deal or something festive because I may need it someday.
Some may call this hoarding, but I call it thrifty!  Ha ha!
I like to craft and get creative, but I don’t have much time for that business these days.  Pinterest certainly doesn’t help that problem.  I have so many things pinned for “someday”.
It’s easier to just pin it and forget about it….hopefully someday you’ll come back to it.  Unfortunately for me I just keep pinning more stuff.  You know because I may need to know how to do that craft or skill…..someday……
So…just curious.  What are the essentials you keep on hand at your house?   It seems like whenever I start to do a project I’m missing something.  It’s like baking a cake and forgetting the eggs constantly!
Here is my messy closet, full of things I’m most certainly going to use eventually……

Everyone loves tissue paper pom poms.
These were a steal for $1 at Michaels 🙂
(And I don’t have to do anything but hang them)
I don’t remember where I got this?
But who knows when you’ll need a banner
Cute napkins from HomeGoods
Happy Birthday Garland
I love this company called Meri Meri
Cute washi tape
An array of ribbons

I got this cute card holder from Zulily
I think it would look good holding pictures too!
I think it’s TAG2U
Lots of fun straws
Paper Goods: Bags & Popcorn/Candy holders
Cupcake Kits: Also from Meri Meri

And someday my dream is to have a room like this!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Well, we all dream 😉

How I Display Photos

Today on Kelly’s Korner “Show Us Your Life” series:
SHOW US HOW YOU DISPLAY PICTURES
I love pictures, in fact I am a little obsessed with taking pictures.  If you ask me, the best investment you can make is a good camera!  You’ll look back years from now and cherish all the photos and memories of life.
This is the wall of photos in our living room.
This was an easy project.  We purchased a pre-made photo wall template (including frames) from Michael’s craft store with a coupon.  We had all the photos printed in black and white.  I think it may be time to update a few though 😉
I posted about this art from Paris HERE

I just love these watercolors.  They all represent a place we visited while in Paris.

Connor’s room:

Info on the airplane pictures from Etsy is HERE

This is probably my FAVORITE piece of art in our house.  It’s an artist we saw on our honeymoon years ago.  He’s in Eureka Springs Arkansas.  Terence and I saw his art and love it, but didn’t purchase anything.  Then later that year for Christmas his parents surprised us with this smoke drawing and it was so sweet!

The artist blows smoke through a tiny pipe onto paper and creates these amazing landscapes.  It’s just smoke and paper!  Amazing!

I tried to see if he was still doing artwork, and unfortunately because of health related issues he’s no longer doing his smoke art.

Pictures in the kitchen:
My favorite place to buy frames is TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, or Marshall’s
Pinterest art on the kitchen counter 🙂
I love this bridge painting above our fireplace.
It was purchased at Aaron Brothers.

Another favorite piece is this abstract boat painting….it’s in our master bedroom!  I got it for Terence after he got back from Iraq because I remembered how much he loved it!

My NEXT project is getting this portrait of Connor framed.
We had this drawn while in Paris earlier this year and I just adore it!
It’s sitting in the closet right now just waiting to be hung…..
Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!

Our Mantle & Other Randoms

I’m linking up with Kellys Korner for mantles day!

Here is how our mantle looks most of the time:

And at Christmas:
Next year I may add some garland or something!

I think I may have found my dream kitchen.  I ran across this photo the other day and I fell in LOVE.

 In other randoms:
I am so excited about Naomi Watts playing Diana in the upcoming biopic.  I think she’ll do a great job!

Not quite sure I like the new fashion trend of “vent holes” in sleeves?  I mean I just don’t get it?  It looks like the sleeve is ripped???  I do like the jumpsuit on the right…but it would never look good on me!  These are on Zulily today…..

We took Connor to a play place sort of like Chuck E Cheese the other day and he loved it 🙂

Daddy’s been on vacation and they brought be coffee on Wednesday!  I love it when my booger comes to see me at work.

Don’t forget to enter the $50 Starbucks giveaway for the month of July!!!
Cheers to all and happy weekend!!!!

Our Bathrooms {Over the Years}

Linking up again with Kelly’s tour of homes.
I love looking at houses and if you really love houses then you’ll love this site called Hooked on Houses.  I could surf that site forever!
Our bathrooms are not too exciting!
But I’ll share anyways 🙂
Here is our master tub/shower
 Guest Bathroom
I really want to frame out that mirror

And now for a little history….. this is our first bathroom as a married couple almost 11 years ago!  This was our one bathroom in our base housing on Little Rock Air Force Base.  Oh 70’s bathroom memories…..

Then we moved into our one bedroom apartment in Little Rock….
Then our 1 bedroom apartment in Plano, TX…
And if it weren’t for Connor we’d probably still be living in a one bedroom apartment if it were up to Terence!  Ha ha!  Or a condo or something.  He does not like yard work….even though he’s worked really hard and I think we have the best yard on the street 😉

I love this yellow hair dryer chandelier at DryBar….my next bathroom.

This will be in it 😉
