Weekend Stuff

Yesterday Terence and I went to Barnes and Noble and picked out some baby/parenting books to read.  Last night we lit a fire and just sat on the sofa and read about what is to come.  We signed up for a breastfeeding class on Thursday night, THREE hours long!  What?  Is it that much info?  Hmmmm…
Should be interesting and I hope to learn from it.
Here is the book Terence picked out to read 🙂
Here are the ones I got
A breastfeeding book (very good so far!) & a book called The Baby Whisperer that Laura recommended.
AND-We both got new phones yesterday!
Woohoo!  We now have the internet on our phones!  I think we were the last in my family at least to jump on that wagon.  It’s really cool and I’m still figuring it out, but I think it’s going to be lots of fun!
It’s the Droid, which is Verizon’s version of the IPhone…..
And last but not least we’ve been hit up by the girl scouts….these things are BAAAD!  I love the thin mints myself!
Today we’ve been trying to figure out these new phones and my feet are so swollen I can barely walk!  My ankle is KILLING me!  I long for the day when I can feel 100% again. I just hope Connor comes soon, this is wearing me out!  I just sent Terence to Target with a list for groceries…he HATES to shop alone…poor guy…oh well…I’m gonna need help these last few weeks so he may be doing most of that stuff for a bit.  Until tomorrow…nighty night!

Connor Bear

I ordered this little bear hat for Connor on Etsy.  I could spend ALL day on Etsy!

Terence wants to dress him in all boy clothing, but I like all the little cutsie stuff like this, might as well do it while I can!
I think it will look really cute in some newborn pictures
I also need to break down and finally buy a breast pump.  I have been waiting until the last minute to get one because I am nervous about spending $300 on a pump and then for some unknown reason not being able to pump.  I am planning on pumping though…so I guess I just need to take the plunge and do it.  These things are SO expensive though! Geesh!

Cankle-itis

What is a Cankle?
It’s where the calf meets the ankle and become ONE.

I’ve got some serious cankles going on and it’s scary! I wake up the next morning and “poof” they are gone! The magical disappearing cankles!

Terence thinks my cankles are funny.

T: “You look so funny!” “ha..ha..ha..”

B: “What do you mean?”

T: “Your feet look so weird laughing….

B: “I can’t help it!!! You better hush up if ya know what is good for you!”

T: Just walks away…that’s right…walk away…..

MEN=Don’t understand 98% of what happens to a pregnant body, therefore it’s always best to just keep your mouth shut!

I bet Heidi Klum never had cankles. I mean for goodness sakes she gives birth and then the very next day she’s cat walking the runway in a Victoria’s Secret fashion show! What up with that? This woman is a freak of nature and I am SURE normal women don’t snap back like that!

And then there is Posh Spice, or Victoria Beckham…whatever you want to call her. She’s had three c-sections (all scheduled around her husband’s soccer games) and I am sure she had a tummy tuck after each one. Nobody looks like this after three babies back to back right? She coined the term “Too posh to push” That is another thing that was in that video I wrote about below….women of Hollywood are scheduling their births around their work schedules. Isn’t that nuts?
Anyways…I would take a picture of my cankles, but I am too embarrassed. Especially because I can’t bend over and haven’t been able to paint my toes in like a million zillion years. I’ve lost all sense of vanity and I really don’t care if I go into the hospital with hairy legs….I mean it’s virtually impossible right now!

I am getting my hair cut after work today! Not sure what I am going to do, but I need something done and soon before I can’t get out of the house. I don’t think I have had a hair cut in 7-8 months…so we shall see!

What to pack?

We had a pretty relaxing weekend…didn’t do much. Saturday I went to my sister in law Rebecca’s baby shower. She is due with Arielle within a day of my due date. These cousins are going to be like twins, which is crazy because Terence and I are about 10 years older than his sister and we are both having babies at the same time! I never would have imagined that, but God has the perfect timing for everything! It was also fun to shop for girly stuff for someone 🙂

Sunday we went to church and I invited my friend Julie from work to go with us and she came! I was so excited she came with us and I hope she comes back with us soon! Afterwards we did our Sunday grocery shopping and hit up Costco and Kroger.

Terence and I have been going walking every night after I get off work. There is a lake with ducks on the other side of the neighborhood. We usually walk to the lake and find a bench, sit for awhile then walk back home. It’s probably about a mile. The only thing is that this past week I started getting CANKLES!!!! Ahhh!!! I have started to swell up like a wet sponge!

Last night Terence and I watched a video his Mom gave us called The Business of Being Born. It was very good and really makes you think about all the drugs hospitals pump you full of and what doctor’s do to have babies born on their schedules instead of what’s best for the baby . It had a lot of valid points in it, but this late in my pregnancy I think I am just going to stick to my hospital birth plan. One thing I am going to do is ask a lot more questions about what they are doing to me in the hospital.

Good Morning Connor! Come on buddy…we are ready to see your sweet face!
Don’t take TOO long now… for your Mama’s sake 😛

Okay-Now I wanted to ask a question….
What should I pack for the hospital?
I don’t have a bag packed yet and was wondering what you packed
or think is/was the MOST necessary.

Ask Me Anything – ANSWERS

Shannon:
I know ya’ll tried to conceive for a while, when you found out that you were pregnant what was your first thought?
I was feeling dizzy that day and I thought it was just because I had too much coffee and I kept telling myself “Becky, you need to quit drinking so much coffee!”
I came home and took a test and my first thought was “OMG that can’t be right?” I never had a test come out positive and thought I was crazy. Terence and I immediately went to Walgreen’s to get another test (a digital one) and it came out “pregnant” I was excited, scared, nervous….but mostly EXCITED!!! We both turned white….

And a random question:

What shampoo & conditioner do you use? Body wash or bar soap or both? What kinds?
I change my shampoo and conditioner every time I go to the store. I never stick with the same one. I do like Biolage though and the way it makes my hair feel. I have REALLY curly hair and could not live without my Chi iron! I use soap- either Dove or Ivory.
FLASHBACK: Here’s an old hairstyle…never again!

Clementsville: Population of 4!
I haven’t known you for long and please forgive me if you have already discussed this…. but my question for you would be… what is your career? I am in the process of looking for another job and I guess this is just on my mind…. I’m just curious!

I don’t really have a career, but I do love my job! I work in banking right now and I really enjoy it. We have a bank/travel club and most of our customers are retired and older folks. I feel like I have 50 sets of grandparents and they are so precious. I work 6 hours a day so I am not complaining…love the hours and we are lucky to have them. I went to college for a couple years and if I was to go back I think I would like to get a degree in graphic design. The last few years our focus has been on Terence finishing his undergrad and Masters degree…I’m very proud of him and his accomplishments. One day I may go back…but not anytime soon with this baby on the way!

FLASHBACK: Old college id cards…woohoo…rocking those overalls!

What is the one thing you’re looking forward to eating/drinking/or doing once you have Connor?
I pretty much eat/drink what I did before I got pregnant. I don’t really drink cokes, but I do drink coffee and being pregnant has not stopped that. I just order a Grande instead of a Venti at Starbucks! I am sure I’ll be going on a diet once Connor arrives. I am very anxious to get back into my regular clothes again.

Will your Mom and Grandmother come stay with you like they did with Bonnie when the baby comes?
Yes-both my Mom and my Nannie will come to stay with us for as LONG as they want!

Is Terence getting excited?
Yes-I think Terence is getting excited…he talks to Connor every night and we are both ready to see him! It’s just been the two of us for so long I think this is going to shake our world upside down for awhile, but in a good way.

What is your favorite baby gift you’ve gotten so far?
We have been so blessed as far as family helping us with stuff we’ve needed for Connor. My Nannie got us the crib and my Mom and Dad bought us the pack and play, stroller, and car seat. Those are the bigger items we needed. Terence’s Mom has finished his bedding and it’s just exactly what I wanted and more! I can’t wait to get it on the crib. (Pictures to come soon I am sure!) I am still very proud of my Boppy I got for $12.99 from BTrendie. I love a good bargain! I also love the gown my Mom got for baby Connor to wear home from the hospital. It has his initials on it and those little mittens attached so he won’t claw himself.

Hmmmmm…mine is…do you enjoy Starbucks??

KIDDING! UhmYES…I do…ha…ha..

Ok, I haven’t seen you in 10 years. How do you think you have changed since high school??

Hmmm…I don’t really know. I guess I have become more sure of myself and more self confident. I was shy in high school and wouldn’t want to go back for anything! Ha..ha…
Time sure flies! I feel like an old fart, I can’t believe it’s been ten years. My life is definitely not how I pictured it would be at this point when I was 18, but I wouldn’t change anything for the world!
I have darker hair now…but sometimes think of going back to blond…I don’t know if I will or not.

FLASHBACK: I don’t know if I’ll ever be this skinny again…my senior year in high school

I’m sure you’ve had this question a lot over the years, but did you and your sister ever try to switch places growing up? (I’m guessing not, since it doesn’t look like you guys are actually identical.)

No-we never switched places. We did have some classes together and most of our teachers would not call on us to answer questions because they would call the wrong name. They would just point in our direction. We are identical…supposedly…although we have changed a lot over the years. We go through phases where we look more alike at times than others.

Also, what are some of the things you’re looking forward to the most about being a mom?

I am so excited to become a Mom! I am also very nervous, I just want to do what is best for Connor. I know things will fall into place once he gets here though. I am looking forward to raising him up to be a Godly man in this world and watching life through his eyes.

And on the other hand, what are something things you are looking forward to the least?

Changing diapers, breast feeding, and losing lots of sleep!
FLASHBACK: Twins-there are times we look more alike than others….

Look at those Gilligan hats…stylin

Here we look a lot more alike

What is your favorite store in AR??
In Arkansas, that is a hard one because there is not much in AR that is not in Dallas. I do miss some restaurants though from back home, like Stoby’s, Oak Street Bistro, and TCBY yogurt.

What is your favorite movie? Place to vacation?

Movie-I love The Family Man & P.S. I Love You
Place to vacation?
Terence and I want to go to Ireland or Scotland for our 10 year anniversary…hopefully someday!

Sassy and Classy Southern Mrs.
This is totally random but what’s your connection to owls? Do you just love them? I see them in your header and noticed you used them in his nursery too. I am a Chi Omega and loved it during college and am still involved but one of our popular symbols is owls. 🙂
I don’t have any real connection to owls, I just think they are cute. They have big eyes, are furry, and supposedly wise/smart creatures. I just like the way they look and they make me SMILE!

My question is did you & Bonnie plan to have babies this close?

No-we both had trouble getting pregnant in the beginning and NEVER thought we would get pregnant this close together, but it has been a blessing! Being twins, Bonnie and I have shared everything over the years and this is just another life experience we get to enjoy together and we love it!

And, do you wish you would have twins so they could have the relationship you & your twin had/have?

I personally don’t want twins…I don’t think I could handle it. Just being honest. I give my Mom all the credit in the world…I don’t know how she did it. The bond between twins is something most siblings don’t share, it’s extra special and I do wish that for people.
Last one – how many babies? & how long do you plan to wait in between?
I am so excited to be having ONE baby right now that I am not planning anything in the immediate future. We will see how this one goes…but as of right now I am not planning on having any more anytime soon.

Okay- what kind of makeup do you use? Have any must have items? Also what is your fave place to go eat?

Makeup-It’s a mishmash of stuff. I like Chanel makeup (though it’s very expensive) you can find it on EBay for cheaper. I also like Dior Mascara which I’ve talked about on the blog before. And I always use bronzer because I am so pale.
Must have items-Mascara, eye liner, and bronzer

Favorite place to eat- The Cheesecake Factory or Outback Steakhouse

Iva
hmmm … well…. in the spirit of the moment 😉 and since I’ve always wanted siblings and would have LOVED to be a twin and this it’s so awesome .. lol …do you think you and Bon Bon are going to having similar parenting and auntie styles hehe 😉

I think Bonnie and I will be alike in some ways, but overall there is no way to tell…we live to darn far away from each other! Also, everyone’s parenting styles are going to be different. Never in a million years did I think Bonnie and I would be separated by this much distance. I always envisioned us getting houses next door to each other and raising our kids together. It’s all our husband’s fault for moving us off from each other 😛 Ha..ha..
I think we will have similar Auntie styles though….I love baby Jarrett so much already I just can’t STAND it that I haven’t been able to see his precious face yet…it’s killing me!

What made you want to start a blog? What is your favorite thing about blogging?

I started blogging back in 2006. My sister originally got me into blogging. I don’t keep a journal or scrapbook, so this is my way to keep my memories tucked away. I am especially thankful to have a blog now that I live apart from all of my family, it’s been the best tool to keep in touch with everyone and keep them updated on our life.
My favorite thing about blogging is all the advice I get from people. I’ve also made so many friends through blogging and there are a handful of people who have become “real life” friends who are so special to me now and I’m so thankful for.

What’s your favorite magazine?

Lucky Magazine-they have contests in the back of the magazine called “lucky breaks” and I love to enter them all…I’ve even won a few of the contests.

M
Where do you want to take your first family vacation to?

I think it will be awhile before we take a family vacation. We will probably wait until Connor is old enough to enjoy visiting some place and make memories. Probably some place like Sea World or something and I’m sure there will be lots of trips to the zoo.

Leslie @ A Blonde Ambition
Ok, I’m gonna thrown out a REALLY random question, because I’m funny like that:

Who are the 5 guests at your fantasy dinner party?

My Papa (I miss him so much!), Barefoot Contessa, Jack Bauer, Sam Worthington (my new crush), and Heidi Montag-so I can slap her tight face for getting all that stupid plastic surgery at 23 years old! She fugged her face ALL up!

Taylor @ Jimmy Choos and a Baby Too
If Connor was a girl what would her name be?

This is a hard one too! We never really talked about names until AFTER we found out what we were having. We both like the name Ava or Kylie. Those are the only two I remember even being mentioned.

What’s your favorite restaurant in FW?

I like Uno’s Pizza or McKinley’s Bakery in Fort Worth

If you could live anywhere where would it be?

I think it would be fun to live in Alaska for awhile…it’s so peaceful and serene up there. I love cold weather!

Nicole
Do you plan to work after the baby is born?
Yes I do -I get three months maternity leave.
We have student loans to pay off and we want to maintain a debt free lifestyle. I am sure I am going to cry when I have to leave Connor to go back to work, but he will be with my Mother in law and sister in law so I know he will be in loving hands.

Lil’ Woman
How does your hubby feel about your blogging and ‘blog friends’?

Terence likes to read my blog…and he comments about what I put on here. He doesn’t like his picture showing up on the blog, but that’s gonna change because he told me he would be more cooperative! He also likes to read everyone’s comments because he’s nosey like that! Ha..ha..
He thinks it’s cool that I have made blog friends and it makes me happy

Q, La, and Gooner
Did you and Bon ever date the same guy? At different times of course… Have you ever dated a set of twins?
We never dated the same guy or twins, but we did date brothers for awhile. That was a MISTAKE!!!!
Ha..ha..obviously none of that worked out! LOL!

Ask ANYTHING Post

I know a lot of fellow bloggers open up their blogs to answer questions from people. I think it is a lot of fun to read them and see what kind of randomness people come up with.

I would like to open up this post to an

ASK ME ANYTHING
questionnaire.

Let’s see what cleverness ya’ll come up with…it should be fun 🙂

-I’m feeling good…just about ready to POP any day now and still haven’t been getting much sleep…but hanging in there by my chinny chin chin! Thank you all for your sweet comments on my pictures below…way to make a gal feel good about herself….ya’ll are so sweet!

Moving right along…

Terence and I are both off of work today! Yippee!! We’ve spent most of the weekend napping around and just watching movies. Saturday night we went to The Cheesecake Factory. My BFF Sara sent me a gift card last month and I was dying to use it on some Godiva cheesecake, plus I told Terence that is where I wanted to go for one of my “last” meals out for awhile before Connor gets here. It’s getting harder and harder to get up and moving each day, but I’m going to continue to work until I can’t anymore. I don’t know when people usually start their maternity leave…..but I guess I will just stick it out until then!

I look like a stuffed tater…going on 35 weeks
Here is the awesomeness that is Godiva Cheesecake..yummers!

Terence’s massive burrito (I had a chicken salad sandwich, but no picture)
And finally here are some puffy BELLY pictures….
